Moving Abroad Tips
Research, research, research
Familiarize yourself with the customs, norms, and laws of the country you are moving to. This can help you avoid cultural missteps and feel more confident in your new surroundings.

Secure housing and/or preferred neighborhood:
Try to find a place to live before you arrive. This can be done through a rental agency, online, or by using expat networks. I have found, however, that this can be difficult after Covid. I would recommend securing at least 1-month at an aparthotel (if moving to Europe) or an extended-stay hotel (if moving to the Caribbean or Mexico). Both of these options were easy for me to do and once there, I worked on securing a more permanent place in the neighborhood and price-point of my liking.
Get your finances in order:
Figure out how you will handle your finances in your new country, including exchanging currency, opening a bank account, and getting health insurance.
Learn the language:
Try to learn the language of the country you are moving to, even if it is just a few key phrases. This can make communication easier and help you feel more connected to your new home.
Overall, moving abroad requires preparation and a flexible attitude, but the rewards of living and experiencing life in a new country can be significant.
